Smart Energy GB | Re-Brand


At the start of the smart meter rollout in 2015, the branding was heavily driven by two characters (Gaz & Leccy) and a strapline - The Campaign for a Smarter Britain. But these were out of date and had low awareness respectively.
A full-scale re-brand was launched - with a new logo, colour palette, fonts and design principles. As well as providing a long-overdue visual refresh, it also put the product (smart meters) front and centre.
My role started with identifying the out-of-date branding, then re-scoping the project to ensure the new approach was designed to work in the long-term, not just for the next advertising campaign. The re-brand has been seen as a great success, future-proofing the organisation until the end of the rollout.
